Evelyn Gallardo Children's Writer & Wildlife Photographer
Ms. Gallardo and her husband, David have literally traveled the world, photographing and writing about wildlife. Evelyn especially relates to orangutans and mountain gorillas, but has photographed many other species, including coatimundis, sloths, monkeys, chimps, hippos, birds and anyone else who might surprise her. In reality, it has taken many hours of patience and trekking to where these wonderful animals live, to obtain such unique photos. Evelyn and David produced the documentary film, Orangutans: Grasping the Last Branch, and Evelyn wrote the book Among the Orangutans.
In
previous years, Evelyn visited over 500 schools worldwide to teach children
how to become involved in saving critically endangered species and their
habitats. The Gallardos have now moved to Costa Rica. You will be able to
read about their new
life at www.monkey-house.net and http://www.thediscoveryhouse.net/inicio.htm
when the websites are completed. They are now helping the community of Manuel Antonio, which is striving to
save the Red-backed Squirrel Monkey, the most endangered primate in Central
America.
